Product Description Captures one of the first big rock events, which featured the top pop acts of the era.
Amazon.com Filmed in 1964 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, this is arguably the very best rock-concert movie ever made, packed start to finish with nearly two hours of absolutely essential performances by an unprecedented group of American and British rock, pop, soul, and Motown legends. Dig this lineup: Marvin Gaye, the Supremes (look for Teri Garr as one of the dancers during "Where Did Our Love Go?"), Chuck Berry, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Leslie Gore, Jan and Dean, a phenomenal James Brown and the Flames, followed (!) by the Rolling Stones rising to the occasion after Brown's legendary performance (Keith Richards has said that performing after Brown was perhaps the biggest mistake the band ever made). Never released on home video, The T.A.M.I. Show was the holy grail of rock-concert movies. Those who have had to make do with substandard and incomplete bootlegs will agree that it was worth the wait for this collector's edition that restores the long-lost Beach Boys set (listen to director Steve Binder's audio commentary for the story behind its removal). --Donald Liebenson

WOW! September 7, 2010 David Kane (Newark, NJ) If I had to live on a desert island with only 10 DVDs, this would be one of them. I'm old enough to know all the groups and songs. I was aware of this film when I was a kid, but never saw it. Wow, Wow, Wow! This DVD is a vacation from the current world we live in. You don't need a drink, yuo don't need religion ... just sit and watch this DVD. Don't let anyone interrupt you. when it's over, you WILL be a happier and better person!

My Favorite DVD Of All Time ! August 6, 2010 E. Weisman (Weston, Fl United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What can I say....I just love this DVD more than anything else I own. I have seen it now at least 20 times in just a few months. It is exciting, electric, and highly addictive. It is a perfect snapshot of a very special and cherished time in history. The performances actually make me cry, they're so good. I was 11 years old when this was filmed, and I was a big, big Beatles fan. I never heard of the TAMI Show back then, but I did know all the groups that performed there. It's just so amazing, I am continually mesmorized by every single thing in it. This 2-day event from late 1964 was a first of it's kind. It makes the Beatles appearance on the Ed Sullivan show a few months earlier seem like ancient history; just remarkable how fast the music was changing and evolving.
